Biography
Dr. Birgit Pianosi is an Associate Professor and the past chair of the Gerontology Department at Huntington/Laurentian University, Canada. She holds a Ph.D. in Psycho-Gerontology from Germany and has completed two M.A. programs (in Human Development and in Psycho-Gerontology). She is a Credentialed Professional Gerontologist (C.P.G.) with the National Association for Professional Gerontologists and a certified coach for Gentle Persuasive Approaches in Dementia Care. Furthermore, Birgit is a member of the Seniors’ Advisory Panel of the City of Greater Sudbury, and a member of the Steering Committee of the North East Specialized Geriatric Services. She is also the past chair of the Ontario Interdisciplinary Council for Aging and Health (affiliated with the Council of Ontario Universities), an executive board member of the Seniors Health Knowledge Network (SHKN), and a board member of the Association for Gerontology in Higher Education (AGHE).
